PCT Day 5: Leg Day Everyday

First off, it’s TRAIL TALK TUESDAY ! And today I am going over details about the trail, gear thoughts, some stats of my hike thus far, and any upcoming terrain .

To start, we hit 50 miles todayyy!!! So so happy about this progress. By this weekend we will likely hit 100 so I’m looking forward to that. Such a cute thing that previous hikers or trail crew members set up these markers out of rocks. It’s adorable and thoughtful. I love having a way to celebrate those kinds of victories!

The trail has been so hard I’m not going to lie. Up and down and back up again, and then back down. It’s been hot, cold, windy, misty, cloudy, you name it. But I’m here for it all. This has been everything I hoped for/expected and MORE.

I think one of the biggest challenges has been pushing through the miles. One mile feels like a million years yet an hour long break feels like 10 minutes. RUDE of my perception of time to mess with me like that.

So far all my gear has been serving me well. My custom pack that Gabriel helped me buy, has been a great home. It’s got all the pockets a girl could ever need. It’s heavy as hell, but the pack itself is sturdy and comfortable. My trekking poles have been my life savers. If I didn’t have those, I’d probably be dead on the side of a mountain. Rather the bottom of the mountain…

If you know me, you know I’m a clumsy person and I trip over my own feet. Now we’re adding rocks, branches, roots, and holes in the mix??? Let’s just say, I’ve had a few experiences where I needed to check my pants after I tripped.

I think my favorite piece of gear is my garmin. It’s been such a relief being able to update my loved ones with everything I’m doing. While I am still present and in the moment, I can’t help but want to keep my family close. This device has been such a game changer. Even my best friend was surprised at how easy it is to get ahold of me. Technology has gone far these days.

So that’s all for today’s entry. I’ll be writing on Wellness Wednesday in the next entry for Wednesday 4/16. Thank you so much for reading.
